Hi Liz

I am new to this site! I have posted my story, but basically I had my son in Aug 09 at 28 weeks. My husband and I are contemplating whether to have a sibling for Thomas, but would very much benefit from seeing a PE specialist. I have an appt next week with a consultant at my local hospital, but am not expecting too much from it!
I understand you can give me details about specialists? I live in East Surrey.

Would very much appreciate any help you can give me? I dont know whether I need to call you to give you some of my details? Please let me know.
Many thanks

Lauren

Hi Lauren

I have replied to your other post, Im glad you have found the community to be helpful.

My geography is awful, but I strongly suspect your nearest specialist will be in London - I will PM you the list of experts.

They will see you on the NHS with a GP referral however, it maybe that your GP is reluctant to refer due to the costs of sending you outside your PCT or they may feel there is enough expertise locally to care for you.

All the specialists we work with have completed extended research into the condition and were part of the team who wrote the PRECOG guidelines (which are now the 'gold standards' of care framework adopted by all PCTs & NICE). If a local consultant can match that expertise brilliant, if not, you are entitiled to seek a second opinion.

Many GPs are happy to refer as increasing your knowledge is not only a safer option often its cheaper! Having said that, if you do have any difficulty getting a referral do let me know. I know the majority of the London experts personally & might be able to help.

I hope this helps.

Best Wishes
Liz
