do bear in mind that the aspirin you are taking is low dose (75mg), whilst the aspirin dose taken for "pain" is generally around 300mg.

I am not the slightest bit worried. I feel very confident that the benefits to me and my baby of low dose aspirin outweight and possible small risks of other problems - but ask your obstetrician for advice., as I am not an expert.

Good luck!

yeah, thats what i thought. but my consultant did say if my uterine artery scan at 23 weeks shows notching it would be increased to 300mg. i know its lots of ifs and i'm obviously hoping that wont be neccassary. i will be seeing the consultant after that scan so i can always ask her then. i just wondered what thoughts were xxx

Congratulations on getting to 18 weeks. Thats brilliant news and looking forward to following your progress.

Article is interesting but am not worried by it. I'm 33 weeks today and i have been taking aspirin 75mg throughout. I think it is the best thing i could have done. From the pathology in on my placenta from my last pregnancy showed multi infacts which led to the PE and still birth of my son. I also found out that i have sticky blood. So using aspirin as a antiplatlet to stop my blood being so sticky is the right way for me to go.

Try not to let it worry you to much as it said it was a limited study which to me suggests that they still have alot of research still to carry out.

Best wishes

Hi there,

Im trying to find where this study has been published and not having a great deal of luck. This is a double edged sword as knowing how the media can sensationalise or twist the facts, on one hand I am cautious over the efficacy of the study'. On the other hand studies that have not been published & peer reviewed offer little more reassurance other than perhaps to warrant further study.

There was a study in 2008 which said there was negligable effects. Until I can source the study I cant really comment on it with any objectivity, however, I would absolutley agree with Jules.

Even if on the surface this is accurate, then the effect seems to be on the undescended testicles of boys as opposed to PE or HELLP syndrome.

I'll keep looking - unless anyone knows where I can find the actual study?

Best Wishes
Liz
